Nitrowave 6.4 Tablet contains Nitroglycerine, an organic nitrate and potent vasodilator widely used in the prevention and management of angina pectoris. It works by releasing nitric oxide (NO), which activates guanylate cyclase in vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to increased levels of cyclic GMP and subsequent relaxation of vascular smooth muscles. This results in venodilation, reduced preload, decreased myocardial oxygen demand, and improved coronary blood flow, thereby relieving anginal symptoms. The 6.4 mg strength is typically prescribed for sustained anti-anginal therapy and prevention of angina attacks. It is not intended for immediate relief of acute chest pain but as part of maintenance therapy to reduce angina frequency and severity.

Common side effects include headache (due to cerebral vasodilation), dizziness, flushing, and hypotension. Orthostatic hypotension, reflex tachycardia, and fainting may occur, especially on sudden posture changes. Rarely, methemoglobinemia and severe allergic reactions can be seen. Tolerance can develop with prolonged continuous use; hence, a nitrate-free interval is often recommended.

Nitrowave 6.4 Tablet is indicated for the prophylaxis and long-term management of chronic stable angina pectoris and, in some cases, as adjunctive therapy in heart failure under medical supervision. It is used to reduce the frequency and intensity of angina attacks and improve exercise tolerance in patients with coronary artery disease.

Nitrowave 6.4 Tablet should only be taken under strict medical guidance. It is not for immediate relief of acute anginal attacks; sublingual nitroglycerine or sprays are recommended for acute chest pain. It is contraindicated in patients using phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (e.g., Sildenafil, Tadalafil) due to the risk of severe, life-threatening hypotension. Caution is advised in patients with hypotension, hypovolemia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or raised intracranial pressure. Alcohol should be avoided as it can enhance vasodilatory effects and cause severe hypotension. Regular follow-up is essential to monitor response and adjust therapy as needed.

Store Nitrowave 6.4 Tablet in a tightly closed container, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight, as Nitroglycerine is highly volatile and sensitive to environmental conditions. Keep at a controlled room temperature (below 25–30°C). Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to unlabelled containers.
